The Nordmann Fir is a firm favourite. A ‘non-drop’ variety of tree, meaning that you can remove ‘hoovering up needles’ from your Christmas To Do List. Looking great for weeks on end, if kept watered properly, it’s ideal for those of us that just love Christmas and insist on having the tree up as long as possible.
For anyone that suffers from allergies, the Nordmann Fir should be your first choice. The lack of scent alleviates those watery eyes and runny roses. Therefore this is also your best option for kids and pets who, let’s face it, will spend a lot of time near the tree. The needles are soft and supple and won’t prickle tiny hands, feet or paws.
The Nordmann Fir has a full and bushy silhouette, with abundant foliage made up of vibrant dark green tones. Tiered branches create a delightful symmetrical shape, making it perfect for hanging decorations.
The Nordmann Fir’s ‘non-drop’ needle retention leaves the space under the Christmas tree strictly for presents, as it should be. So you can spend your Christmas enjoying time with the family, rather than hoovering!!!
The Nordmann Fir’s classic shape and firm branches lends itself to an array of decorating styles, making it the perfect tree to personalise. You can keep it traditional with red ribbons, gold baubles and twinkling fairy lights. Or you can create something truly unique – think ‘coastal theme’ with delicate shells and pastel colours, or go bold with bright neon lights and purple tinsel.
A “potted” tree will not survive for future years.
Make sure your tree is “container grown” to ensure its survival for many Christmases to come.
The Norway Spruce is the classic real Christmas tree. It embodies the essence of Christmas with its distinctive scent and lush foliage. For those that prefer their tree up for a shorter period, this is the perfect option. Ideally it likes to be outdoors, yet it will be happy inside as long as it is watered regularly.
The Nordmann Fir was first identified by the Finnish zoologist and botanist Alexander von Nordmann in 1938. He discovered the fir in the Caucasus mountain range that extends through Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. Introduced to Western Europe a few years after its discovery, its popularity has continued to grow ever since.
