The Fraser Fir is native to the Appalachian Mountains that span North America. Discovered by Scottish botanist John Fraser (1750–1811) during his explorations of the southern Appalachians in the late 18th century, they are now grown in Scotland and are increasing in popularity within British households. A Fraser Fir decorates the White House each year.
