The Norway Spruce is the classic real Christmas tree. It embodies the essence of Christmas with its distinctive scent and lush foliage. For those that prefer their tree up for a shorter period, this is the perfect option. Ideally it likes to be outdoors, yet it will be happy inside as long as it is watered regularly. A real showstopper of a tree, the Norway Spruce is all about making a big impact when it really matters.
This variety can have some needle drop, yet it’s worth it for its wonderful fragrance that has your home smelling like Christmas from the moment you walk in the door.
The Norway Spruce is characterised by its bright, forest green tones and its dense branches which form a pleasing conical shape. Its needles are fine and slightly spiky, which also adds to its elegant, traditional look.
The Norway Spruce just oozes Christmas, with its fresh pine aroma and full form. This tree embodies both a nostalgia and enduring glamour that characterises this time of year. A tree for the traditionalists amongst us that don’t mind a little needle drop. Also it is the perfect more economical alternative to a fir and great for outdoor use.
The Norway Spruce being the epitome of a traditional Christmas calls for an uncomplicated, time-honoured style. Pairing it back to a classic Christmas palette of reds, greens, silver and gold. It’s time to dust off the grandparents’ decorations or snap up some unique vintage pieces and adorn your Norway Spruce in a celebration of timeless beauty.
The Norway Spruce is native to the European Alps which extends into Scandinavia. It was introduced into the British Isles in the 16th century. The tree gained great popularity in 1841 when Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria introduced the German tradition of decorating a Norway Spruce with lights.
A Norway Spruce is gifted each year by the city of Oslo and placed in Trafalgar Square as a token of gratitude for Britain’s assistance during the Second World War.
